Site: UF Law magazine
December 2008

Over the course of three weeks, I took the old UF Law magazine site and gave it a face lift.
The face lift included implemented the Textpattern content management system, redesigning and recoding.
The old site used a combination of tables, images and Flash. I rewrote the code in valid XHTML, switched out images for text or background images where necessary and converted a lot of the flash to JavaScript using the jQuery library.
Katie Blasewitz created the masthead.

Over the summer, I took a class in the UF College of Journalism and Communications called “Content Management, Data and APIs.”
In the class I was asked to put together a site using Textpattern as a CMS while integrating different APIs and using jQuery if possible.
I decided to rebuild my portfolio site and blog. This is what came of the endeavor.
Site: Alligator.org
May 2008 – August 2008

Ongoing restructuring of code throughout the site in an attempt to bring it closer to standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility – a task made difficult by a very unmanageable content management system
In this time, I succeeded in correcting cross-browser bugs while fixing the site’s display in Internet Explorer allowing 52% of alligator.org’s viewship to see the site in the way it was intended to be seen.
Site: University of Florida Stylebook
July 2008

I re-purposed an existing WordPress template to mirror the existing, static UF stylebook site, which involved rewriting XHTML, CSS and PHP.
This project was my first extensive use of WordPress as a CMS and PHP in the workplace.
Along with recoding the site, I also helped in the copy editing of all terms while working as a liaison between the UF Office of Web Administration and UF University Relations.
Site: Summer of Web
June 2008

I was given a flat image of the design from a co-worker of mine at the UF Office of Web Administration, designer Al Kirby. I then coded up the site with XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
This site was created as a way for prospective attendees to find out more about the summer conference as far as time, place and speakers as well as a place to register for the event. The site will eventually be appended to after the conference to integrate video, photos and highlights.
