Where animated gifs still work

I came across this on the Miami Herald front page. I figured it was some sort of JavaScript being pulled in. Apparently it is just an animated gif that is getting updated on the side of WunderGround.com.
So, who said that animated gifs were always a bad thing?
More importantly regarding this tropical system, which is now battering my ancestral country of Cuba as a Category 4 hurricane, it is scary big. FEMA is saying soon it will become a Category 5 storm.
I hope everyone in Cuba and in the path of this storm stays safe. I hate to think the setback this would create for the people of the northwest Gulf Coast region who are still reeling, three years later, from Hurricane Katrina.
We can’t forget about Tropical Storm Hanna either, the effects of which might be felt a little closer to home.
