Absolut-ly funny

Hey, remember that time the United States stole half of Mexico?

Well this Absolut Vodka ad decided to remind people that history is written from different perspectives. Funny how angry people can get about this sort of thing.

Figured I’d touch on the situation because here at the University of Florida, advertising is taught in the College of Journalism and Communications.

The L.A. Times wrote a story about the uproar over the ad. Personally, I think it’s funny.

Well, more on the L.A. Times story, they had a video along with it, and I really liked it. It really condensed the information and the situation very well. It brought you up to date on what you need to, or might want to, know.

Also, I like the L.A. Times’ favicon, except the LAT makes me think of Latin or Latin America, which fits this situation well.

So, what do you think? Was Santa Anna as bad a guy as they made him out to be? Was he as bad as some of our own generals, Patton let’s say? Either way, keep in mind the target audience, and let advertisers have a little fun every now and then. Life’s too short to get into an uproar about this kind of stuff.
